Skal.
Currently I write only speculative fiction and poetry. I like to focus on themes that are relevant to our current world, starting with a grounded idea that has floated in the minds of humans for a while. Then I twist it and ask a "What if?" question to create a scenario and see where it takes me. I mainly focus on science fiction in some form.
For Poetry, I only write when I am feeling something intensely. I fall into a trance and translate what I feel into words, then when I can think more logically, I rearrange those words to make more sense and sound better. Most of my poems I barely remember writing.
My Story
During the summer of 2020, I escaped New York City, where I had been creating the life I wanted for ten years. As I stood in the front yard of a gorgeous property in the serene Adirondack mountains, I turned to the woman I was seeing at the time and said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if they made a movie about...?" I won't give the details away just yet. She replied, "Yea, you should write a book about that." Then I took two Gotham Writers' Workshops, applied to Johns Hopkins University, got accepted, graduated with a Master of Arts in Writing and am now writing that book.
